Bayer Leverkusen has qualified for the semi-finals in the German Cup with great difficulty. With Jeremie Frimpong in the starting line-up, the Bundesliga leader was too strong at home with 3-2 for VfB Stuttgart, which is third in the competition.
Jonathan Tah scored the winning goal in the 90th minute at the BayArena. The captain who came along headed a measured cross from Florian Wirtz from close range, through the ground, behind goalkeeper Alexander Nübel.
After an hour, Bayer was still 2-1 behind. Amine Adli equalized halfway through the second half with a nice shot.
Fortuna Düsseldorf and Kaiserslautern previously secured a place in the last four. The last semi-finalist comes from the match between 1. FC Saarbrücken and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
