SM league club Rauma has acquired Lukko in their ranks Jere Karjalainenthe club informs.
Karjalainen signed a one-year contract with the club.
– We are very pleased that we got Jere for us. He brings a lot to the team, especially adding firepower to the attack. In his previous Liiga season, he scored 24 goals, 17 of which were over the top. Thus, playing with superiority is certainly Jere’s strength, but results will also come from flat fields. On top of everything, Jere is really good at playing underpowered, which means that we get a good addition to that, Luko’s sports director Kalle Sahlstedt said in the press release.
– We get a pretty comprehensive package from Jere. First of all, in the booth, he is a brilliant type: he demands a lot from others and is also ready to do the things he demands from others. We get the right kind of toughness on the booth side and also experience. He brings a valuable addition to the team.
Karjalainen played last season in the KHL for Dinamo Riga. The winger says in the club’s press release that Luko is the best option in terms of his current career stage.
– I will get back to a team that has a chance to win. What I was talking about with Kalle, I calculated in my head that this sounds really good to my ears. There have been other offers on the table here, but not ones that would have been good for me, says Karjalainen.
Karjalainen won the Finnish championship twice in the ranks of Tampere Tappara before moving to the KHL and HK Sochi for the 2020-2021 season.
Karjalainen has also won World Cup silver in the shirt of the Lions in the spring of 2021. Laituri has played a total of 23 matches in the shirt of Finland.
Luko’s team is not ready yet. Sahlstedt said the team is still looking for a center forward.
