Jenny Merks from Beek en Donk thought that a prank should be allowed. But when she was scrubbing the eggs off her window for the second week in a row, she was done with it and put out an appeal on Facebook.
It hit for the first time about two weeks ago. Could happen, Jenny thought then. “We’ve all been young.” But the next Friday night, it happened again. “Then it became faint. That cleaning is a lot of hassle. And I heard from other people in the neighborhood that it had also been going on with them since January.”
She decided to share a post on Facebook. “Have you had eggs mysteriously disappear from your fridge for 2 weeks in a row? You can come scrape them off my windows.” She also wrote that she clearly had the egg throwers on camera images.
It is not clear what exactly was the deciding factor, but the action certainly paid off. “Yesterday those five boys came along with their mothers. With a bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates. Afterwards they all turned out to be acquaintances of my daughter. That was a funny coincidence.”
If it’s up to Jenny, that’s the end of the matter. “I did tell them that we didn’t enjoy leaving home so much in the evening, because we didn’t know what else they were planning. For example, we also have the car in front of the door. All in all, I think it was a good lesson for those guys. They were very sorry.”
