President Sauli Niinistö Married to Dr. Jenni Haukio take a stand on the topic Homemade in his column.
A few weeks ago, Haukio says he had been on the international car rental website, which he talked to a poorly speaking person on the chat service. The customer service representative said he would use an artificial intelligence -based application as a translator.
Haukio was amazed when he noticed that the person’s answers came quickly and in an almost flawless language. The experience made Haukio think about the impact of artificial intelligence on preserving the diversity of language skills.
– Will the motivation of a wide population base remain in language learning if communication between different mother tongue speaks is almost without delay with translation applications? If the machine once turned, why should you know yourself? Haukio writes in his column.

Haukio hopes that internationalization will encourage people to study foreign languages in the future. He also believes that the machine will never be able to do the same as the human mind.
“As long as we don’t just ask, but we also think ourselves, and as long as we use artificial intelligence as a slave and not to be a host, I understand that we can be calmly at the forefront of development,” he concludes.
The effect of artificial intelligence, for example, on different professions and jobs has been much talked about lately. In May, the UN International Labor Organization published a report that artificial intelligence changes 9.6 % of traditionally women’s work, and only 3.5 % of men’s duties.
According to the report, the difference is due to the fact that the effect of artificial intelligence is emphasized in administrative tasks, office work and, for example, secretary work. However, with the development of generative artificial intelligence, there is also a need to prepare for major changes in the media, software and financial sectors. According to the study, artificial intelligence will have a significant impact on 25 % of professions globally.
