Two-time Olympic champion Jelena Isinbayeva is threatened with another eviction.
According to the Russian TASS, the All-Russian People’s Front founded by Vladimir Putin is planning to evict Isinbayeva from the organization.
The All-Russian People’s Front is a political organization that supports the Russian government. The organization will hold a meeting on Tuesday, where Isinbaeva’s eviction will be decided by a vote.
Isinbayeva joined the organization at the end of 2018.
Isinbajeva has been in the middle of a commotion in recent weeks, when the Spanish El Digital Sur reported that she moved to Tenerife.
The former pole vaulter responded to the news on his Instagram account, where he said that he does not belong to any party or the Russian State Duma. In 2015, he signed a five-year contract with the Russian army, becoming a major. Isinbayeva herself stated that the military rank was only nominal.
Isinbayeva’s words have been met with dismay in Russia. The country’s sports minister Oleg Matytsin stated that Isinbaeva’s attitude towards military rank is unacceptable.
On Monday, it was reported that Isinbayeva is wanted out of Tenerife. A group of supporters of the imprisoned opposition leader Aleksei Navalny want the Russian out of Tenerife.
The group also said it demanded action from the European Union and urged the EU to freeze Isinbayeva’s assets in Spain. According to the group, Isinbajeva owns three properties in Tenerife with a total value of more than 2.5 million euros.
– He loves Putin and actively supports the war in Ukraine, the group said according to the Swedish Aftonbladet.
