LOOK. Jef Colruyt: “Team can now go for polka dot jersey”
Colruyt means by this: to give the group a new impetus, with a new strong man at the head. Colruyt briefly looks back on almost 36 years in the management of the family retail group. “When I came on board in 1994, there were 127 own stores and we had a turnover of 1 billion. Meanwhile, there are 775 own stores, a lot of which are operated by independents, and a turnover of 11 billion. Ca va, right? I can be content, gave what I could. I always thought it would be clean to stop at the top. It’s different now. But the advantage of stopping in a dip is that the next team can go for the polka dot jersey.”
From now on, Jef Colruyt says he will still support, “and occasionally challenge again, where necessary.”
