Haider Ackermann is the next guest designer at Jean Paul Gaultier.

He is creating the upcoming Spring/Summer 2023 haute couture collection, Jean Paul Gaultier announced on Friday. The Colombian-born French designer is the fourth fashionista to design a collection for the French fashion house. He succeeds Balmain designer Olivier Rousteing, who showed his collection in July, as well as Sacai’s Chitose Abe and Y/Project’s Glenn Martens.

It wasn’t until mid-September that Ackermann presented a joint collection with Fila, for which he delved into the archives of the Italian sportswear label. Ackermann has also been a creative consultant for the Belgian luxury clothing brand Maison Ullens since February last year.

Ackermann went to Belgium in 1994 to study fashion design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. He started his career as an assistant to Belgian designer Wim Neels before working for Bernhard Willhelm and Patrick Van Ommeslaeghe. In 2001 he presented his first own women’s collection in Paris. He was also creative director at Berluti from 2016 to 2018.
