The province must soon determine a provisional route for the road. But the associations, both agricultural organizations and environmental groups, are now calling on the delegation in an open letter not to do that. They believe that too much open space would be lost.
Mayor Jean-Marie Dedecker is not surprised that there will be a protest. “You can of course assume that there will be protests against a project of this magnitude. That is the order of the day in our ‘professional society’. Although I suspect – and this is my personal position – that this step is mainly politically inspired.”
