The British retail group JD Sports Fashion Plc has taken action in view of the Russian attack on Ukraine. The company announced on Friday that it had completely suspended its trading activities in Russia for the time being. According to a statement, e-commerce and the wholesale business are affected.
For the group, the effects of the decision are comparatively small: according to its own statements, it recently achieved only 0.05 percent of its total sales with the now closed sales channels. The company also emphasized that it had neither its own locations nor employees in Russia and Ukraine.
“All of us at JD Sport are shocked and deeply concerned by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and extend our deepest sympathy to all Ukrainians,” the company said in a statement. “The conflict in Ukraine remains a matter of grave concern and we hope for reconciliation and a return to peace in the region.”
