Tonight it was also announced who can call himself Emmenaar of the Year. Festival organizer Maik Reuvers walked away with that title. Since 2016, Emmen-born and Erica-raised Reuvers has been organizing the punk and metal party Pitfest.
Last year, Roots Ribs & Brews was added, a festival that combines roots music with good food and drinks. The jury thinks it’s fantastic how Reuvers ‘literally puts Emmen on the world map with this.’ Other nominees besides Reuvers were filmmaker Thomas Nau and Sumitra Naren and Dijana Marusic, compilers of the cookbook Emmen aan Tafel.
Reuvers can’t believe he’s taking the title. “It feels a little bit award. There are, I think, thousands of suitable contenders for this prize.”
