Jarno Laasala sailed across the Atlantic

Jarno Laasala weighed the risks carefully before committing to the Trans-Atlantic program.

Jarno Laasala, 42, known as one of the dudsons and host of Posse, is a man who would probably go to the moon if someone suggested it.

However, crossing the Atlantic in a group of celebrities was a challenge that he had to think about for a while.

– It has its real, real risks.

– During our crossing of the Atlantic, one person died in another boat after getting a boom on his head. It was probably good that we only heard about it afterwards, says Laasala.

He trusted the crew that skippered the Lintu boat and therefore dared to go on the journey. The captain was an experienced seafarer Kenneth “Kentsu” Thelen. The owner of the boat was also present Jyrki Mäki and sailor, rescue officer Patrick Neuhaus.

There were no surprises on the trip, but Laasala is not revealing everything yet, because the program filmed at the end of the year will not be shown on television until this fall.

– Yes, there were capsizings and the sail sometimes hit the canvas, Laasala says.

He was fascinated to be able to try, especially how the edge lasts in a small boat for three weeks in uncomfortable conditions with a certain group.

– I value my own space very much. So I was a little nervous about how I would manage with 13 people in the boat.

– And of course I knew that there could be surprising situations. If, for example, the electricity comes from the boat, we are in really big problems, Laasala remembers thinking before leaving for the trip.

He decided to keep a cool head and help others as best he could.

– It was like a space adventure for me. The boat banged, creaked and rocked like a spaceship. The whole time we were moving forward, someone had to guide us, we slept in shifts and we lived a completely different life than everyday life. And that’s what was so great about it! the man sums up his experience.

However, the sailing spark did not strike so badly that the land crab of the flat Ostrobothnia landscapes would hunt for their own boat. He could still go to sea again, especially if the crew was as great as last time.

However, Laasala would not agree to cross the Atlantic with the Duudsonit group.

– That would be a wild stunt and complete madness! No one would come back alive. Or well, I have a lot of faith in us, somehow we might be able to get through that too, Laasala laughs.

In the video, Sara Forsberg tells what excited her the most about crossing the Atlantic.
