On Monday, the head coach Miguel Grau FC Inter, who announced the firing, quickly found a familiar name to replace the Spaniard. The Turku club has signed a contract for the next two seasons Jarkko Wissin with. The contract also has an option for the 2025 season.

Wiss returns to the Veikkausliiga after a gap year, which was partly spent in the role of Ruuttu’s football expert. He last coached Tampere Ilves. The cooperation that started in the 2016 season ended in August last year.

The resume of FC Inter’s new head coach creates great expectations for success in Turku. During his time at Ilves, Wiss won the Veikkausliiga coach of the year title, the Finnish Cup and piloted the Tampere team into the top five of the main league each time. In 2017, Ilves reached bronze and played in the European League qualifiers.

– There have been a lot of contacts since last year, and I have considered and thought about some, but I have tried to give time to the family as well. When Inter contacted me, I was immediately interested, Wiss says in the press release.

FC Inter’s high-quality conditions and players attracted Wiss to sign the contract.

– In my opinion, there are many players whose final career stop is not Inter. Many have the opportunity to go on to the world and there are many players in the team, the kind I like. They really have the opportunity to take big development steps.

FC Inter is in fifth place in Veikkausliiga’s upper end series, with five rounds of matches remaining. There is still a chance for a medal place, but it would require the team to steal big points from the championship-seeking teams. The Turku club will continue with the assistant coach for the rest of the season by Ramiro Muñoz under the heel of.

– This season is definitely not over for us. After the Championship series, we still have matches scheduled for a place in the Conference League qualifiers, so there is really something to play for, sporting director Jani Meriläinen says.

– We still have a very competent staff in all areas, who can certainly achieve the goals set for this season. The international break gives Ramiro and the rest of the staff time to bring their own ways of doing things to the team.
