Still appearing as the owner of the Jokers in this episode Jari Kurri told Helsingin Sanomat in an interview published on Thursday, his feelings about the commotion around the club.

According to publicly available information, Jokerit is being transferred to the ownership of another group, of which it would be one of the members Joel Harkimo.

Kurri said that he was confused by the proportions of the changes in Jokeri’s ownership arrangements.

– It’s quite a show, damn it. I don’t really understand. You get big proportions and it swells and swells.

Kurri said in an interview that he decided to give up Jokers in May.

– I’ve suffered enough here. I thought it’s better to stay aside and start working on a new future.

Kurri nominally bought Jokerit Hjallis from Harkimo in 2019, but in reality the club’s funding came from Russia until the end of the KHL season.

Kurri served as Jokerien’s GM throughout the club’s KHL period and also sat on the board of the series.

According to Kurri, the purpose of the eight-year trip to Russia was strongly sporting, even though the series was strongly influenced by Russian politics.

– We had exclusively sporting goals and the development of Finnish hockey when we played in that series, Kurri said in an interview.
