Senator in the Red City Hall – and now also leader of the Greens in the House of Representatives. Sometimes rule, sometimes oppose. The double Bettina Jarasch (54) – a comment from BZ editor Hildburg Bruns.

Why is Bettina Jarasch in a comic hybrid role? Apparently she is worried that her skins will otherwise swim away from the Greens.

It would be better to finish one job before starting a new one.

The Greens in particular have otherwise insisted on the separation of office and mandate. They gave their former Economics Senator Ramona Pop hell because she wanted to continue to represent her constituency.

Separation of powers is a foreign word in Berlin practice anyway: For members of the Senate, the parallel seat in Parliament is a financial extra, but above all it is a safe fallback position if things go wrong with the government job in the meantime.

It is clear that Jarasch can only act with the handbrake on at first. Until the start of black and red, she has to exercise restraint.
