Artist Jannika B says in the newsletter Human shaped (Otava) from the day his spouse Toni Wirtanen stated that now all is not well. At that time, it was years of completion, as a result of which Jannika was exhausted.

The couple’s first child, born in 2015 Martha-daughter was a baby at the time. Even before the birth of her first child, Jannika was used to getting a lot done in her everyday life, and the baby’s irregular sleep began to affect the mother’s well-being.

– Even though I slept, I was still tired. I couldn’t do normal things. Answering the phone seemed impossible. When even a small setback came, I couldn’t handle it on any scale. I started to fear everything, the artist recalls difficult times in the book.

– When I found the lump in my body, I was sure that I had lymph node cancer. Every little symptom was a sign of a fatal disease. I had become a human-shaped lump that was no longer me, Jannika says in the book.

The situation worsened to the point that the artist sought a psychiatrist’s appointment. Even at that time, Jannika thought that she had no real reason to go to a psychiatrist. When the doctor asked how she could help, Jannika says she burst into tears. The therapy was continued, and Jannika finally received a diagnosis.

– I was ashamed to tell my parents about my exhaustion and depression diagnosis. I felt that I was not able to redeem the image I had given my own parents about my success, the book says.

Nowadays, Jannika is doing better, and she has been going to therapy for several years. When his mind once again drifted in a boring direction, the artist learned an important thing.

– I decided that I also go to therapy when my mind is clear and my resources are good, because then it is also easier to deal with the challenging issues of the past and the present, Jannika B sums up.
