Serbian Djokovic and Italian Sinner faced each other in the men’s singles semi-final match at the Australian Open, the first grand slam tennis tournament of the season, held in Melbourne. Sinner won the match, which lasted 3 hours and 22 minutes, 3-1 with sets of 6-1, 6-2, 6-7 and 6-3, making it to the grand slam final for the first time in her career.
With this result, Djokovic lost a match in the tournament after losing to South Korean Hyeon Chung in the 4th round of the 2018 Australian Open. Sinner drew attention by becoming the first Italian tennis player to reach the singles final at the Australian Open. He became the second youngest tennis player to reach the final of the tournament after Djokovic, who won the championship in 2008.
Jannik Sinner will play with the winner of the match between Russian Daniil Medvedev and German Alexander Zverev in the final.
