Janni Hussi being honest about his change of profession: “I’m scared”

Janni Hussi tells about the stages he has experienced so far regarding his change of industry.

At the beginning of October, it was announced that Hussi will participate in the 2024 World Rally Championship together with the super promise of the sport Lauri Joonan with. So Hussi is, in his own words, a professional karter today.

Hussi admits that he went through many emotional stages regarding his change of field. According to Hussi’s own experience, initial enthusiasm is often followed by a phase of doubt.

– If you have talked about it to the people around you, you may hear from those close to you: “Hey Janni, let’s get to the point now.” You have a great job, a guaranteed monthly salary and a large listed company behind you. Stop that mess”. So now I’m not saying that (such a thing) has happened to me, but often such things may happen to people close to me. They start to eat away at your self-esteem, he says in the episode.

Hussi says that he is currently at the stage where he is both excited and scared.

– I don’t have a single World Championship behind me. I realize that we are now talking about a different league that I have ever been in. In addition, I have a good year of experience in this sport. It scares me, Hussi admits.

Hussi reminds us that it is not possible to be a perfect professional on the first day of a new job. Hussi promises others who are considering a career change that doubt about a life change is a passing phase that must be pushed through.

– But you get used to that too. (At first) it’s unnerving, scary and I’d like to go back there, because it’s familiar and safe. This is often the stage where that faith is tested, he concludes.
