Janke Dekker has undoubtedly been practicing her first name all day. Tom Egbers’ wife is a huge embarrassment as chairman of the Mores hotline. “She reacts very strangely.”
In recent months she had pretty much had a day’s work: Janke Dekker shouted everywhere what a sweetheart her husband Tom Egbers really is. And that the investigation into transgressive behavior at NOS Sport will really not be about him. He’s not a bully, she recently cried in the Story. Is it naive or is it looking away?
Conflict of Interest
Tom was exposed this weekend as the bully of NOS Sport. He persistently “bullied” and “intimidated” a young intern when she stopped kissing him, reveals the Volkskrant this weekend. And according to the newspaper, it is not an isolated incident: “He has quite a problem with beautiful women.”
And Janke? He just seems to have known about it for years and years. She went to get a story from the intern with whom Tom cheated. And that prior knowledge is striking, because Janke is the chairman of Mores, the hotline for reporting undesirable behavior in the media. And whether that conflicts with her marriage to Tom? Well, she’s been calling for months.
Not to Janke
However, it now appears that Mores was avoided precisely because of Janke by ‘several people at NOS Sport’, according to de Volkskrant. “They do not trust that their complaints will be handled independently there.”
Incredibly bad of course. Janke also has something to say in de Volkskrant. The woman who is supposed to stand on the barricades for victims of inappropriate behavior appears to be unable to separate work and private life very well. She seriously questions the Volkskrant, and with it the stories of victims.
“Not objective!”
Janke seems completely lost. She says that she doubts whether de Volkskrant is ‘operating openly and objectively’. She will be temporarily replaced as chairman of Mores this month due to busy times, but the organization is now casually announcing that Janke will be just returns. Who are these people there for? For the victims or for themselves?
It is clear that Mores had better disband himself, because of course there is no longer a victim who feels taken seriously by this club. “The hotline is completely unbelievable as long as Dekker still has a role. She wants to get back to work in April… How?!”, tweets communication expert Lars Duursma.
Moral preacher
That whole Janke is just finished, says Johan Derksen Inside today. “Tom Egbers’ wife has called out to all those talk show tables as a kind of moral preacher that people who have complaints about sexual misconduct should report to her and her husband is the only one who has complaints about.”
Janke’s position is now really untenable, says Johan. “Tom Egbers has maneuvered himself into an impossible situation, also towards his wife. That wife is monkey. Tom put her in front of l * l. He is in a very difficult situation.”
A little crazy
AD opinion diva Angela de Jong finds it weak that Janke questions the Volkskrant research. She says Jinek: “From her position as Mores’ forewoman, I find that a bit strange. They always advocate taking the victims seriously and I can’t quite reconcile that with this. This is of course also embarrassing and a drama for her.”
Sports journalist Maarten Kolsloot: “This is of course not a surprise. At all those two positions next to each other; the man and the woman, both prominent and then you have to report something in confidence to someone who has such a relationship. Many people had not had confidence in that for months and now this has been illustrated with examples.”
Hostess Eva Jinek: “Because they were afraid it would end up with Tom?”
Maarten: “Of course. And her reaction now does not testify to self-understanding, because that affair that is mentioned… She was familiar with that.”
Very very weird
Media connoisseur Rob Goossens has lost his confidence in Janke, he says RTL Boulevard. “Mores reacts very strangely. Janke Dekker is suddenly gone, too busy with other things. I find it very strange that they now suddenly choose a different line of response. It sounds a bit like a conflict of interest.”
Show connoisseur Bart Ettekoven doubts the role that Janke plays in all this. He says in Show news: “Janke knew about this.”
