‘Janine Abbring takes 50 thousand euros, is that worth damage to her image?’

Janine Abbring raises around 50,000 euros with her advertisement for the investment bank Brand New Day, says TV expert Tina Nijkamp. “Is that worth all the damage to your image?”

The TV stars of the NPO are all having fun at the investment bank Brand New Day. After Sander Schimmelpenninck and Özcan Akyol, Janine Abbring is now filling her pockets. But doesn’t Arjen Lubach’s editor-in-chief make things very difficult for herself, her colleagues and her lover?

‘It is strange’

Janine uses the credibility she has built up at the NPO to cash in hard and in doing so she actually loses credibility. And to what extent does such a lucrative business influence Arjen’s reporting? And doesn’t it put her partner Jeroen Wollaars, presenter of Nieuwsuur, in an uncomfortable position?

The VPRO is not happy with Janine’s snacking, but cannot ban it. Viewing authority Tina Nijkamp understands the broadcaster’s discomfort well. “I can imagine that the VPRO thinks: well, for such a journalistic person… Should you have done this? Of course it is also strange,” she says Tina’s TV Update.

‘But why?’

Tina joins the Janine critics. “I also find it very strange, because: why would she do this? It is also not the case that you make a lot of money with it. Of course, she also has to deal with her friend Jeroen Wollaars, who presents Nieuwsuur, so she can embarrass him too.”

She continues: “At Lubach they always scrutinize everyone and all banks and that can get them into trouble. And it doesn’t make that much money. I understand that a smaller role in this commercial – there are also roles for Eus and others – yields 30 thousand euros. Janine has a somewhat larger role.”

50 thousand euros

How much does Janine get for that bigger role? “She is expected to spend 50,000 euros for this spot. If it can also be seen in print or on bus shelters, some money will be added. Eus is also on the Brand New Day site and of course they pay extra for that, but it is not that much money.”

Tina continues: “Look, of course: it is a lot of money in itself, but when you see what kind of reputation Janine has… She is seen as a good journalist and has done a fantastic job on Zomergasten and then I wonder whether it is worth the money. has been, because its market value will really decrease considerably after this.”

Turnips cooked

Janine takes 50 thousand euros, but loses on the other side credibility. “She will be asked in every interview throughout her life why she did that spot. Then it remains to be hoped that the bank will not be discredited or receive negative publicity, because then the turnips will of course be completely cooked.”

All in all, Janine’s credibility is now under serious pressure due to a commercial, Tina believes. “I don’t think it’s a smart move on Janine Abbring’s part.”

If things ultimately go wrong between Janine and the VPRO, she can always contact BNNVARA. They have a nice program for her there: Kassa.
