Janine Abbring does not know whether she wants a daily talk show on television at this point in her career, just like Eva Jinek. “It makes a difference that Zomergasten is six times,” says the presenter.
Tonight it’s that time again: Janine Abbring will start a new season of Zomergasten. Her first guest is Humberto Tan and that has sparked some controversy, as some TV colleagues don’t think he’s intellectual enough for an hour-long interview. After six weeks, Janine disappears from the tube again.
Janine new Eve?
Doesn’t Janine like to appear on television every day? “I don’t know if I would like it every day, like the Eva Jineks in this world. And can”, says the presenter in the AD.
That has to do with the fact that Janine always has a lot of nerves. “Actors who have to go on stage will also recognize that – who can puke in the wings, and think: why am I doing this? I’ve never puked in the wings, by the way.”
Six times on TV
Janine does not mind that she only has recordings for Zomergasten six days a year. “It makes a difference that Zomergasten is six times. I’m also glad I don’t have to do anything besides it: my head can only handle one big thing at a time. It’s nice to be in such a tunnel.”
However, those nerves never get used, she concludes. “I often ask myself, prior to a broadcast: why am I doing this?! Afterwards I always know: because the satisfaction is great. For that I have to push my limits every time.”
