Jandino’s character Judeska is back and is also coming to Emmen. Toneelgroep Erica also has a new performance in store, this and more this week in Groningen and Drenthe

Jandino Asporaat is best known for his type called Judeska. As Judeska, Asporaat returns to the theater and also visits the Atlas Theater in Emmen. Another name that has proven itself in the field of theater is Toneelgroep Erica. This group also comes with a new show, and there is much more to experience this week in Groningen and Drenthe.

Jandino’s character Judeska is back

After four successful films and two sold-out theater tours, Judeska will return in 2022/2023 in a brand new hilarious farce, produced by Het Huis van Asporaat. After Judeska is fired for the umpteenth time, she gets one more chance from the employment agency. She can work as a flight attendant. Judeska immediately likes it. Traveling far, expensive hotels and drinking cocktails at swimming pools. In other words: glamour.

But that is not possible to her dismay, because she remains on the ground. She becomes a ground stewardess. You can see how this ends on June 7 at ATLAS Theater Emmen.

Emmen – ATLAS Theater, Wed 8 pm, 30 euros

‘The Heart is Asymmetrical’, Schra’s new album

Sometime in 2020, while the Edison-winning album In the rain was mixed, Janne Schra was looking for a studio to record vocals. She got talking to producer Adam Bar-Pereg and they spontaneously decided to write something together. Schra has moved within the spectrum of folk and jazz since Room Eleven and wanted to see what would happen if she made pop songs produced with Adam, with room for whatever was blowing into her head. So intuitive, don’t shoot anything, swim on, scroll on. And, as you sometimes stand still in an endless stream of images, the ideas that populated her head had a chance to manifest, hanging on Adam’s couch, a face mask on her chin. Janne and Adam wrote an entire album together. The result is The Heart is Asymmetrical, an album that is mainly about gut feelings and shaking off what no longer serves people or isn’t true love.

We keep looking for things that make our lives perfect, but our hearts are asymmetrical. Maybe that’s a hint.

Sailing and walking excursion through the Groninger Landscape

This tour is all about Tusschenwater, a new nature reserve on the south side of the Zuidlaardermeer. Tusschenwater is an area where nature development, water storage and drinking water extraction go together, just like areas on the Groningen side. It has now become a bird-rich area, where a white-tailed eagle is regularly spotted.

It is also a habitat for beaver and otter. From De Leine we sail towards Drenthe and moor at the polder mill. From there you walk through the Tusschenwater area led by guides from Drenthe. Then you sail back to Groningen. The walk in Tusschenwater takes at least an hour and is mainly on unpaved terrain. Sturdy footwear is therefore recommended. Bring your binoculars and, if necessary, put on wind and waterproof clothing.

Kropswolde – Paviljoen De Leine, Wed 1.30 pm, 7.50 euros

‘Wellness Resort Everything Gold’

Theater association Erica in Yde has distinguished itself for years with its open-air performances. Much success was achieved in 2018 with Yde girl which attracted more than 4000 visitors. This summer is reserved for Wellness Resort Alles Gold. They build on the well-received piece from two years ago: ‘Camping Everything Gold’. After the failure of the camping site set up on the farm, the son and daughter decided to open a wellness resort on the farm, which was affected by nitrogen regulations. A nice gift for another evening of laughter. Theater association Erica has been in existence for 110 years.

A long history with countless pieces has now been recorded in the archives. It is a close-knit club with loyal members, including several enthusiastic young people. And it may be said: director Hans Langhout succeeds in raising the bar a bit higher every year in terms of acting level. And thanks to writer Okke C. Emmens, another piece has been written ‘tailor-made’ for the association.
