The well-known FC Kip section from the earlier shows that Jandino Asporaat made for the public broadcaster has now become a real chicken joint in Rotterdam. There are very long lines, but a Telegraaf reporter took a closer look and came across all kinds of customers complaining about the sky-high prices charged by the comedian. “Does that cost 47 euros?! What!”

FC Kip in VI

You can charge sky-high prices if something is a big hype, but what if the novelty wears off? Do people still turn over their piggy bank to get some fried chicken pieces at Jandino? The well-known catering entrepreneur Won Yip holds his breath and warns the comedian not to ‘do this on the side’.

The men of Today Inside also have fun with the extortionate prices that Jandino charges. “Hey, you live near Rotterdam, don’t you? Have you been to FC Kip yet?” Wilfred Genee asks sports journalist Martijn Krabbendam in the last episode. He then said: “No.”

Outrageously expensive

Johan Derksen then brings up the sky-high rates. “I read that it is extremely expensive.”

Wilfred: “Yes, it seems to be ridiculously expensive.”

Hélène Hendriks: “What do you pay for a kippie?”

Wilfred: “A hamburger and a coke will cost you 47 euros!”

René van der Gijp: “Hahahahaha!”

A trend

Wilfred wonders whether Jandino will earn back his sky-high investment when the hype wears off. “Isn’t that a trend? That after about three weeks people think: FC Kip, find out!”

Martijn Krabbendam: “That’s a hype, isn’t it? I don’t know what it will be like in a year, but I haven’t been there yet. Hahaha.”

What does Jandino actually think of it? He is clearly not happy with the criticism and posts a real epistle on Instagram. “Realize that this goes much further than a dream. This is more than tasty chicken 😊,” he says.

To dream

You go to that chicken shop to dream, says Jandino. “The thing I hear most is: ‘I’m proud of you’, and often it is. ‘You motivate me to also pursue my goals.’ 💪🏾”

He concludes: “Before FC Kip opened, they wrote: ‘Now it’s too late, he should have done it ten years ago.’ After a week of mega success, they fall over each other to write: ‘It’s a hype, this will be over soon.’ 😉 At times like this, you have to go back inside, back to God and realize that this dream was given to you, not to anyone else.”
