Jan Smit under fire for wages for Eurovision: ‘Tax money!’

Jan Smit’s income from the Eurovision Song Contest leads to an investigation. Private boss Evert Santegoeds is going to submit a Woo request. “This is tax money.”

It is increasingly against Evert Santegoeds: the attitude that Jan Smit adopts as one of the important Eurovision bobos. He was on the selection committee that designated Mia & Dion as the Dutch entry, and then wrongly applauded them as a commentator during the first semi-final. “Flawless!” he shouted.

50 thousand euros

Evert is really done with it and wants insight into his income. He wants to submit a Woo request (formerly Wob request) for this, he says in the podcast Strictly Private. “I think it’s so bad what he was doing in that loft this week. Not a sensible word came out and he made himself completely ridiculous with that announcement, with his ‘flawless clarity’.”

He continues: “I think we should just ask the Wob what he gets for a week in Liverpool. I wouldn’t be surprised if that is 30, 40 or 50 thousand euros or something. Of course he has a contract with AvroTros, maybe it falls under that, but it is still very nice to find out where our tax money is.”

Creepy

Is Evert serious about that research? Yes. “It is so appallingly bad that I would really be very annoyed if it was more than 10 thousand and I think you can request that nowadays. We should do that sometime.”

Like the rest of the AvroTros Eurovision team, Jan cannot deal with criticism at all. He’s having a really pissed one this afternoon post posted on his social media. In it he roars: “Life is too short for all that stupid and negative bullshit!”

In the breach

Jan also jumps into the breach for his harassed colleague Cornald Maas. “Cornald, my friend and Eurovision Compass. What I enjoy most is the commentary on our commentary!”

He continues: “You never do it right anyway. A wise person would say: ‘Make it into a ball and throw it away…’ Highly recommended!”
