Jan Smit appeared in the picture with a huge double chin at the TV channel ESPN yesterday. “He doesn’t let the bitter garnish pass him by either,” remarks a startled viewer.
Jan Smit has been chairman of the football club FC Volendam since last summer. The club faced the Limburg team Fortuna Sittard yesterday, but had little luck: the Volendam team lost 2-0. It could all be followed live on sports channel ESPN, where Jan appeared in full at one point.

Just as the camera is pointed at him, Jan starts to yawn enormously. It betrays the hefty double chin of the folk singer. “It was also an early age for Jan Smit”, the commentator notes cautiously.
Viewers, however, take Jan a lot. One Zeurvogel, for example, says: “He doesn’t miss the bitter garnish either.”
