Jan Slagter denounces the rude question to Amalia: ‘Get out, Jeroen Snel!’

Jan Slagter thinks it is ridiculous that Jeroen Snel has asked Princess Amalia a question about her love life. “I really think it’s a question that you don’t ask, don’t ask yourself!”

Jeroen Snel, one of the most famous royalty experts in the country, works for both Blauw Bloed and RTL Boulevard. He was present at the photo opportunity of the royal family on Friday and was also allowed to ask Crown Princess Amalia a question afterwards. He wanted to know from her how her love life is going.

“Don’t pretend!”

Amalia didn’t feel like answering that. “That’s something I’d rather keep to myself, but I promise if anyone is serious, you’ll be the first to hear about it.”

Her father, King Willem-Alexander, then broke in. This is very logical, says Omroep MAX boss Jan Slagter. “I think the king did that very nicely, that he said: ‘Watch out, she’s eighteen, she has a whole life ahead of her,'” he says. NPO Radio 1† “I really think it’s a question you don’t ask. Jeroen Snel, don’t pretend!”

Odd question

Jan thinks that Jeroen has lost his way. “I think Jeroen Snel… Joh, there are quite a few other questions to consider, don’t ask an eighteen-year-old princess about her love life. Isn’t this an odd question? I’m not asking you here, ‘How’s your love life?’”

It is below average, Jan thinks. “After all, this is for the Private, for the Story… Cut it out people! There are a hundred other questions to consider.”

scurrying

Amalia must be able to scurry undisturbed, according to the broadcaster. “Yes, she is eighteen. What were we like when we were eighteen? The king also added later: ‘You are certainly not the first to know this.’ You know, I think that’s a very nice statement too. He did that very neatly and very kindly.”

Jan advises Jeroen not to do this again. “The princess is eighteen years old, she still has a whole life ahead of her, a student life. If she has to give an update on her love life every time…”
