Before Maan de Steenwinkel became a well-known Dutch person, she was still a very ordinary girl who took normal jobs to collect some pocket money. For example, for a while she was the babysitter for the children of fellow villager Jan Roos, now infamous for his online program Roddelpraat.

‘moon is sweet’

Jan paid Maan about five euros an hour, he says in conversation with Veronica Superguide. His family really enjoyed it when she broke through. “I remember well that she once performed at a festival in Bergen and we stood there with the children watching their old babysitter. That’s cute, isn’t it?”

He is positive about the singer. “Maan is a very nice person, sweet, even a little shy. Even if I wanted to: I wouldn’t know what negative to say about her. Most of those types are lifted over horseback, but I know her as a nice chick. After that performance in Bergen, she also went to cuddle with my daughter.”

Borsato event

Despite her success, she has not acted arrogantly, says Jan. Does he still have contact with her? No. Not even after he spread spicy gossip about her alleged intimacy with Marco Borsato. “No, that Borsato event has not led to friction. I never see or speak to Maan again.”

There is no contact anymore. “She sings songs, we are talking a bit in front of a green screen. I didn’t make up that Borsato story, it came to me at a certain point. I am not 100% sure whether Maan ended up in bed with Borsato, I was not there.”

Childish

However, Jan thinks he can just call it that. “I think it’s a bit childish not to talk about it because she’s my old babysitter. That’s how it works in Hilversum, but not with us. Maan never responded to the story, which is understandable.”

He also knows Maan’s parents. “I’ve met him on TV shows, a nice guy. Maan’s mother is also a nice person. No family full of madness.”
