Jan des Bouvrie property may be sold, inheritance case continues | Show

The seizure that Jan des Bouvrie’s son and daughter placed on a villa belonging to the deceased interior designer has been lifted. The Leeuwarden Court of Appeal confirmed this. The designer left the villa to his wife Monique. Two children from a previous marriage, Nicole and Jean-Marc, had the property seized.

The judge agreed the request of Nicole and Jean-Marc. But Jan junior and Bo, the children Des Bouvrie had with his wife Monique, appealed against this. The court has now lifted the seizure. This means that the house can be sold.

“We are extremely relieved that we have now received this outcome,” Jan Jr. responds Telegraph. “When there are legal issues attached to a house, it can deter potential buyers. In that respect, the way is clear again to say goodbye to the house.” There is no new owner in sight yet, he adds. The asking price is 8.2 million euros. Viewings are planned, Jan Junior told the newspaper.

Will amended shortly before death

Nicole and Jean-Marc disagree with the calculation of their share of the inheritance of the interior designer who died in 2020. That is why they had the villa seized. Nicole and Jean-Marc question whether their father ‘knew what he was changing’ when he amended his will shortly before his death. On November 14, substantive proceedings regarding the inheritance will start in which the widow and his two previous children face each other. “I find it very sad how we now sit opposite each other,” said Monique earlier this year. “It was my husband’s last will.” Jan junior also called it ‘very sad’.
