Jan Derck van Karnebeek heads dairy company FrieslandCampina

FrieslandCampina has appointed Jan Derck van Karnebeek as the new chairman of the board. That announces it dairy on Friday morning. FrieslandCampina has thus found a successor for Hein Schumacher, who made the switch to Unilever. The 55-year-old Van Karnebeek will take over the lead from June.

Van Karnebeek is currently a director at GreenV, an internationally operating group of companies in the horticultural sector. In the past, he worked for Heineken for many years, where his positions included commercial director. He also maintains close ties with King Willem-Alexander.

FrieslandCampina, one of the largest dairy companies in the world, has had a successful 2022. It increased both sales and profits compared to the previous year. Turnover increased by 14 percent to 14.1 billion, partly due to higher dairy prices. Affiliated dairy farmers were paid a record amount. Nevertheless, during the presentation of its annual results last month, the company announced that it expected a difficult year. The company fears a difficult market with falling milk prices, and thinks that the reduced purchasing power of consumers will be felt.
