Jan de Hoop in tears at the latest Breakfast news: ‘Thanks everyone’ | Stars

In the broadcast, De Hoop was the first to thank his husband Coen for the past decades. “The moment I knew would come,” said de Hoop before thanking some people. “To start with Coen, my husband who has supported me, the alarm went off very early for him too all those years. Soon he will be at home with a Bossche Bol waiting for me.” His colleagues could also count on a thank you from De Hoop. “But above all, the viewer.”

The presenter also joked about the fact that he burst into tears. “This is even worse than Toine van Peperstraten’s farewell,” he joked, when his colleagues in the studio burst out laughing. “Have a nice day,” De Hoop concluded.

The 67-year-old De Hoop presented it for the very last time on Thursday RTL Breakfast news, something he did for 33 years. Initially, the presenter was supposed to retire at the end of last year, but he stuck with it for a few more months. De Hoop will be succeeded by Robbie Kammeijer, who has already Edition NL and the Half past seven News presented for RTL.
