US basketball player Mike James is the new record scorer in the EuroLeague. The professional from French champions AS Monaco replaced Vasilios Spanoulis at the top of the leaderboard with 4,464 points in the home game against Red Star Belgrade from Serbia (98:80) on Thursday evening.
The Greek Spanoulis, three-time EuroLeague champion and national coach of his home country, scored 4,455 points in the European premier class from 2005 to 2021.
James was eleven points behind the legend before the game and scored a basket in the second quarter to make it 38:31 (17th minute). At the end of the game, the 33-year-old had 20 points.
James has been playing for Monaco since 2021, and the point guard has played a total of 58 games in the NBA for the Phoenix Suns, New Orleans Pelicans and Brooklyn Nets.
