Almost two weeks ago, the tabloid page “TMZ” reported on the marriage between James and Francesca Hetfield: At the beginning of the year, the Metallica singer is said to have filed the divorce papers in the US state of Colorado, 25 years after his wedding.
Francesca Hetfield: ‘Very sad it has come to this’
In an addendum, “TMZ” has now quoted Francesca. True, she did not mention the word “divorce” directly. Nevertheless, her remarks seem to point to the end of the relationship: “After 30 years of ups and downs, but always with a lot of love, I am very sad that my marriage has come to this,” she said on August 16 – i.e. one day before the wedding anniversary of the couple, whose relationship resulted in three children together.
At his side she fought demons
In past interviews, James Hetfield has repeatedly thanked his wife for her support. For example, he explained that Francesca helped him mature and deal with problems, including dealing with anger and addiction: The musician has been fighting alcohol since the age of 16. One day Francesca gave him an ultimatum and put him out on the street: “My wife did exactly the right thing,” he said in an interview with Joe Rogan. In 2019, Hetfield suffered a relapse but has seemed healthy of late. Nothing is known about the exact reasons for the divorce.
