Chicago, Illinois: Metallica’s James Hetfield on Day 1 at the 2022 Lollapalooza Festival

James Hetfield has once again revealed himself to be a Stranger Things fan: For Halloween, the Metallica frontman apparently dressed up as Eddie Munson, a metalhead who starred in the fourth season of the Netflix series. The band posted a photo of Hetfield in disguise on Instagram. “Eddie Munson says Happy Halloween,” they wrote.
In the photo, Hetfield is not only decked out in a wig and denim jacket like Munson wears in the show, but also wears a Hellfire Club t-shirt. In the series, this is the Dungeons & Dragons club that Munson runs. The character inspired not only in the series, but also metal fans in particular, when he picks up the electric guitar in an important scene and plays the Metallica classic “Master of Puppets”.
Back in July, Metallica dedicated a TikTok video in which they played “Master of Puppets” to Eddie Munson. During their performance at the Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago, they also showed a video of the “Master of Puppets” scene from the show while performing the song. “It’s an incredible honor to be such a big part of Eddie’s journey and to be reunited with all the other great artists featured on the show,” the band said at the start of season four With.
