Corden, who has hosted the American talk show since 2015, thought it was a difficult decision. “I always thought I would do it for five years and then leave and then I stayed. I thought about it for a long time.”
The presenter would like more time for other projects. “I want to try to write. There are some stories I’d like to tell and I want to see if I can. The fact that I think it’s terrifying shows that it’s the reason for doing it.”
The host took over ‘The Late Late Show’ from Craig Ferguson in 2015. Corden devised the successful Carpool Karaoke section, among other things, in which he sings hits in the car together with a major artist.
What will happen to the show after Corden’s departure and who will replace him is not yet clear.
