James Bond turns 60 – at least the film version of Agent 007. The first novel by Ian Fleming was published in 1953, but on October 5, 1962 James Bond – 007 chases Dr. No” the first Bond film in the cinemas. To celebrate the anniversary, (almost) the entire film series will be available on Amazon Prime Video from October 5, 2022.
The action was preceded by a headline-grabbing film deal: In 2021, Amazon bought the MGM (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) film studio for $8.45 billion. In some countries such as the USA and Great Britain, all Bond films are now even ending up on the streaming platform. In Germany, the latest film “No Time to Die” is excluded from the campaign. But all the other 24 Bond films will also be shown on Prime Video in Germany. Again “Hollywood Reporters” reported that they will be available for a “limited period of time”.
The music documentary “The Sound of 007” will also be released on Prime Video on October 5th. The documentary is about the film music of the 007 films, from the famous Bond theme by composer Monty Norman, who died in July at the age of 94, to the most recent theme song by Billie Eilish. Bond songs that didn’t materialize are also discussed, such as the planned theme song for “James Bond 007: Quantum of Solace” by Amy Winehouse.
The concert gala “The Sound of 007 in Concert” will also take place on October 4th at the Royal Albert Hall in London. A recording of the concert will also be available on Prime Video from October 5 under the title “The Sound of 007: LIVE from the Royal Albert Hall”. Among others, the US rock band Garbage performs with their theme song to “The World Is Not Enough” (1999), “The World Is Not Enough”. Headliner is Shirley Bassey (85), who can be heard on three Bond theme songs with “Goldfinger” (1965), “Diamonds Are Forever” (1971) and “Moonraker” (1979).
