James Bond actors honor the Queen

He belongs to British pop culture like only Sherlock Holmes or even the Queen herself: MI6 agent James Bond. It’s only natural that the cast of Agent 007 paid tribute to Elizabeth II after her death on Thursday (08/09) at the age of 96.

“I was, like so many others, deeply saddened by today’s news and my thoughts are with the Royal Family, those who loved her and all who loved her,” Daniel Craig said in a statement. Elizabeth II left an “unparalleled legacy” and will be deeply missed. Craig has portrayed Bond in five films since 2006’s Casino Royale.

Pierce Brosnan’s Bond review:

His predecessor Pierce Brosnan, last seen as Bond in Die Another Day in 2002, was also reminiscent of the Queen. “Rest in peace Your Majesty,” the actor wrote on Instagram. “It was an honor to serve you.”

Even 83-year-old George Lazenby, who had only played Bond in one film – in 1969’s On Her Majesty’s Secret Service – spoke up. “Thanks for your service ma’am,” the Australian wrote on Twitter. “It was an honor to serve you. Rest in peace. Love, George.” All living Bond actors, with the exception of Timothy Dalton, have reported the death of the monarch.

Daniel Craig also met the Queen in person at the London 2012 Olympics. He was shown in a skit picking up Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace. In the end, both of them do a parachute jump from the helicopter into the Olympic Stadium – a part that stunt people did, of course. The Queen knighted Bond actors Sean Connery and Roger Moore, who died a few years ago.

Numerous musicians also expressed their respect to Queen Elizabeth II.
