Jamaican Jackson sprints World Cup record Schippers from the books

Dafne Schippers lost her championship record in the 200 meters at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene. Jamaican Shericka Jackson won the final at Hayward Field stadium in 21.45, the second time ever run.

Jackson thus improved the 21.63 with which Schippers won her first world title in the 200 meters at the 2015 World Cup in Beijing. The new world champion remained 11-hundredths above the world record of 21.34 that Florence Griffith-Joyner set in 1988.

Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce sprinted to silver in 21.81, British Dina Asher-Smith ran for bronze in 22.02.
