Jakob Ingebrigtsen clocked 3:27.95 in the Oslo Diamond League 1,500 meters.
Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen raced to a 3:27.95 and Oslo Diamond League win at 1,500 meters on Thursday. The result is a new European record.
– I’m not always sure which races I’m going to run fast in, but I hope Thursday will be one of them. I’ve already won the mile here, but I’d like to win the 1500m in my favorite event of the year, the Norwegian said at Wednesday’s press conference.
Thursday’s result is the top time in the world this season. Ingebrigtsen’s previous record with a ton vitos was 3:28.32.
– Training is relatively easy: I go jogging again and again, and increase my running strength. Every year I try to do it better, but at the same time we see if something can be done differently.
The men’s 1,500m ME is from Morocco of Hicham el-Guerrouj (3.26,00) from 1998.
– Someday I would like to win the 5000m here in Oslo, but first I have to win a few 1500m races here! But I plan to run in Bislett for many more years, the 22-year-old runner commented on Wednesday.
