After the descent in League Drei, Jahn Regensburg wanted to play at the top. But the opposite is the case. This now has consequences for an employee.
Jahn Regensburg has released his sports director Achim Beierlorzer. As the club announced on Friday, the 57-year-old was informed about the decision in a personal conversation. The position of the position should take place promptly. The club emphasized that it was still fully capable of acting.
Beierlorzer took the office at Jahn in July 2023. Previously, the Erlangen had been interim coach at RB Leipzig and chief coach near Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga. He also managed 1. FC Köln from summer 2019, but was released there after a negative series in November of that year. Now he was again having an early end in Regensburg.
CEO Oliver Hein said that the decision was “not only” due to the sporty disappointing results in the current season. Rather, it is “the result of a detailed, cross -season analysis of sporting and sports strategic development in the past one and a half years, combined with the question of how SSV Jahn can return to the road to success”.
The Regensburgs had relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga in the summer. In the current third division season, the club is seven points from nine games on a relegation zone. The next game against 1. FC Saarbrücken is already on Saturday.
Beierlorzer, trainer at Jahn from 2017 to 2019, returned as managing director in 2023. Now he is “jointly responsible for the ongoing sporting negative phase and therefore respects the decision of SSV Jahn,” said the 57-year-old.
