Jafar has moved back to France. The 12-year-old male lion was not at home among the lionesses of Wildlands in Emmen, so the zoo looked for a new home for him.
The lion man came over from France to Emmen in August, he should succeed the deceased male lion Dudley. But the introduction to the lionesses of Wildlands was difficult, eventually resulting in a deadly fight. For lioness Tia, a brawl with Jafar had a fatal outcome.
After this incident, the male lion was kept separate from the rest of the lions. “We don’t want to run the risk of a repeat,” said zoo director Van Engelen at the time. In the end, Wildlands managed to arrange for Jafar to return to the French park he came from.
