Jadon Sancho responds to criticism

In 2021 Jadon Sancho switched from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United, flushed BVB a whopping 85 million euros into the coffers and created a spirit of optimism in the Red Devils. More than two years later, the disillusionment could hardly be greater. Now the next scandal about the offensive player is on the horizon.

After the former Manchester United hopeful made at least short appearances in the first three games of the season, Sancho was completely missing from the squad on Sunday evening against Arsenal (1: 3). A circumstance that prompted coach Erik ten Hag to justify and Sancho to react to it.

“Jadon was not included in the matchday squad due to his performance in training,” the Manchester Evening News quoted ten Hag as saying. . “We didn’t choose him. You have to reach a certain level at Manchester United every day,” continued the Dutchman. He has to make decisions, “that’s why he wasn’t selected for this game”.

A view that Sancho neither shares nor wants to leave behind.

Ex-BVB star was the “scapegoat” for too long

“Please don’t believe everything you read! I will not allow people to say things that are completely untrue,” Sancho wrote on the short message service X (formerly Twitter) late Sunday evening. He trained very well during the week and suspects that there are “other reasons” for the fact that he did not make the leap into the squad.

But that’s not all: Sancho denounces that he is often portrayed in the wrong light anyway. “I’ve been the scapegoat for too long, which isn’t fair,” the winger continued.

“All I want is to play football – with a smile on my face and as part of my team. I respect all the decisions the coaches make, I play with fantastic footballers, I’m grateful for that and I know every week is a challenge. I will keep fighting for this crest no matter what happens.”

It’s understandable that United are slowly losing patience. At BVB, the Englishman matured into an absolute superstar with 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 games at a young age, but in Manchester Sancho cannot even begin to meet the expectations fueled by these values. So far there are 82 games, twelve goals and six assists.
