Jadon Sancho comments on top comeback

Things couldn’t have gone much better for Jadon Sancho on his comeback in the Borussia Dortmund jersey: an exemplary assist to one of his best friends in black and yellow and an immensely important win (3-0) for his new/old club. After the game in Darmstadt, the BVB attacker was blissful.

“It should happen like this: I come back and see Marco again. He is a great friend of mine,” said Sancho on “Sky Sports News” about his assist on Marco Reus to make it 2-0. “I’m happy to have set up a goal for him.”

Sancho came on as a substitute for Jamie Bynoe-Gittens in the 55th minute, at the same time as Reus. 22 minutes later, the Englishman provided the assist, which Reus used to make it 2-0. “Since I’ve been back, it feels like home. I’m happy to be back on the pitch,” said Sancho about his return.

Reus was also pleased to be able to work with Sancho again. “He is simply a difference player who is good for a scorer in every game because he simply has the positioning to turn a disadvantage into an advantage,” said the veteran.

“Even when I scored, he waited a long time to get the ball. I really enjoy playing with him and I’m very pleased that he found his way back.”

Sancho, who was recently out of action at Manchester United due to differences with team manager Erik ten Hag, is back at BVB on loan until the summer, where he was active from 2017 to 2021 (136 games, 50 goals and 63 assists ). He then moved to the Premier League for 85 million euros.

“I want to be happy again, be on the pitch again and help the team,” added Sancho, referring to his goals at BVB. “I want to help the team qualify for the Champions League again.” The black and yellow are three points behind fourth-placed RB Leipzig.

More voices about Jadon Sancho on “Sky”:

Marco Reus (Borussia Dortmund goalscorer) to Jadon Sancho: “We shouldn’t expect miracles. He hasn’t played at all for months, no rhythm, little team training. Every minute on the pitch helps, and especially scoring points, because that gives the most self-confidence. Then you can “He will be very important for us because he breaks up situations very well and he has an incredible final pass. He finds the perfect moment. We hope that we can get him on the pitch more and more.”

Edin Terzic (Borussia Dortmund coach): “We always talk about the talent and natural fitness that he has, but of course he is still a very young player. He has experienced a lot, now he has met such a wall for the first time . We know what Jadon can do, he has proven that to us. We had a successful time together and now it’s about creating a new successful time. He has to invest a lot in that, he’s ready to do that. He has today again hinted at what he is capable of.”

TV expert Lothar Matthäus: “Jadon Sancho did well. He brought a bit of sophistication into the game somewhere. Some things that I was missing before, even something surprising. He’ll do better, his teammates will respond to him, he’ll be 1st -against-1, he will score goals. He simply feels comfortable in Dortmund, he is also appreciated by the fans, the teammates, the teammates. He has already written a success story with Dortmund. Maybe this is the beginning of it second success story at BVB with Jadon Sancho.”
