Things couldn’t have gone much better for Jadon Sancho on his comeback in the Borussia Dortmund jersey: an exemplary assist to one of his best friends in black and yellow and an immensely important win (3-0) for his new/old club. After the game in Darmstadt, the BVB attacker was blissful.
“It should happen like this: I come back and see Marco again. He is a great friend of mine,” said Sancho on “Sky Sports News” about his assist on Marco Reus to make it 2-0. “I’m happy to have set up a goal for him.”
Sancho came on as a substitute for Jamie Bynoe-Gittens in the 55th minute, at the same time as Reus. 22 minutes later, the Englishman provided the assist, which Reus used to make it 2-0. “Since I’ve been back, it feels like home. I’m happy to be back on the pitch,” said Sancho about his return.
Reus was also pleased to be able to work with Sancho again. “He is simply a difference player who is good for a scorer in every game because he simply has the positioning to turn a disadvantage into an advantage,” said the veteran.
“Even when I scored, he waited a long time to get the ball. I really enjoy playing with him and I’m very pleased that he found his way back.”
Sancho, who was recently out of action at Manchester United due to differences with team manager Erik ten Hag, is back at BVB on loan until the summer, where he was active from 2017 to 2021 (136 games, 50 goals and 63 assists ). He then moved to the Premier League for 85 million euros.
“I want to be happy again, be on the pitch again and help the team,” added Sancho, referring to his goals at BVB. “I want to help the team qualify for the Champions League again.” The black and yellow are three points behind fourth-placed RB Leipzig.
