In 2018 dancer Jadey van de Kerkhof from Eindhoven took her first European title. Coincidentally, that was thirty years after her grandfather and PSV icon Willy van de Kerkhof won the European Cup 1 with PSV. Now Jadey is in the final of talent show Holland’s Got Talent together with the dance team CDK JR from Veldhoven.
The dance group consists of thirteen girls and two boys, they are between 13 and 17 years old and have known each other for about four years. The team already scored high in the preliminaries.
Judge Dan Karaty then used the famous ‘Golden Buzzer’ for their perfect execution. The young dancers immediately reached the semi-finals. “It’s super special that we were already there,” says Jadey. With a special mime show, the group also managed to secure a place in the final. “We trained for a year on that show,” she explains.
“More famous than Grandpa? Not yet.”
Jadey’s family is naturally very proud of the performance of the dance team. “Grandpa especially”, says Jadey with a laugh. After her European championship and this final spot, she is increasingly in the spotlight. But is she more famous than her grandfather? “Not yet,” says the dancer jokingly. “But that may still come.”
Choreographer Sergio Reis is also proud of his group. “Super nice for the group that they are now in the final.” The episodes have been recorded before, but now that the broadcasts are on TV, the pride only increases.
“The performances we have done are really tailored to the audience that watches Hollands Got Talent. It is therefore great that it is so well received.”
The final is on TV this Friday, October 28. The dance group watches that final together. “We have rented a room to watch the final as a group. Then we can enjoy our performance again.”
