Jade Nyström talks about her painful school memories in the Yökylä Maria Veitola program.

In the Yökylä Maria Veitola program, the three-time high jump Finnish champion, Jade Nyström at Lapinjärvi. The program discusses, among other things, what Nyström’s life has been like as a young trans athlete.
– Exercise has always been fun, but in middle school it wasn’t fun at all, Nyström says in the program.
He also sheds light on the reasons behind his unpleasant memories.
– There were girls and boys separately, so I wasn’t allowed to be in the girls’ gym, I don’t know why. I wasn’t allowed to use the girls’ bathroom. And the gym was the same thing. I said I wanted to change the group and was told no.
Nyström stuck to his rights and ended up with a radical solution
– I didn’t go to exercise classes for two months, he says in the episode.
Maria Veitola sympathizes with Nyström’s unpleasant experiences.
– All I can say is that luckily you have a nice family, Veitola sums up.
