After years of saving, exchanging and trading, Jacques Lenaers from Vlijmen has managed to collect the largest pen collection in the world. But that doesn’t mean he’s done now. “We’re just going to continue, aren’t we!”
In November 2021 the team of ‘t Brabants Buske visited Jacques. He had invited them to come and have a look at his pen collection, because it was quite large. And Jacques hadn’t said too much: his attic was overflowing with pens. There are still no fewer than 265,000 pens listed alphabetically by color and type. Clip-on pens, micro-pens, radio-pens: you can imagine it that Jacques has them,
Waiting for privacy settings…
In November of 2021, Jacques had the largest collection of pens in the Netherlands. “There is only one bigger, it comes from Denmark. He has 500,000”, he said at the time. So Jacques had a dream, and that was to become the greatest pen collector in the world. That is why the ‘t Brabants Buske team organized a campaign where people could send in pens.
People from far and wide also visited Jacques to bring pens or invited Jacques to pick them up. And so it happened: partly thanks to all those people from Brabant, Jacques was able to make his dream come true. He has the largest collection in the world. ‘t Brabants Buske had special Buske pens made especially for this occasion. The very first is for Jacques and he now completes his collection.
“It’s not allowed to expand further, because then I’m done with it!”
But what next? That is the big question now that Jacques has already achieved his personal goal. First of all, he is going to register his collection with Guinness World Records. And after that? Well, after that he just wants to keep going. Only his wife Janny thinks otherwise. “It’s not allowed to expand further, because then I’m done with it!”
