Marcell Jacobs prefers facts to words. So, after Noah Lçyles’ words about him, his bald head down, he thinks about training, on the track and in the gym, towards the season to come. The blue, in the next few days, will have to decide where to spend the traditional month of January working in the heat. The Spanish headquarters in Tenerife, in the Canary Islands, a winter “home” for the last six years, could be replaced by Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates and the related Zayed Sport City, a multi-sports facility which also houses the stadium with track, inaugurated in 1980 and with over 43,000 seats, of the national football team. At the moment it is the most likely destination. The policeman from Brescia, coach Paolo Camossi and the physiotherapist Alberto Marcellini spent a week there in November. The “test” went well, but with some perplexities about the asphyxiating temperatures in the middle of the day and the fact that the lifts are on average not very busy. Furthermore, certain precise guarantees are needed. When they arrive, the skein will be untied. In the meantime, there are many Azzurri who will carry out internships abroad: after Yeman Crippa, Osama Zoghlami, Gaia Sabbatini and Federica Del Buono, in view of the European cross-country championships scheduled for Sunday in Turin, together with other middle-distance runners, lengths in Kenya, at the moment the shot put Leo Fabbri (with Zane Weir) is in Stellenbosh, South Africa, the Olympic sprinter Fausto Desalu (with Raffaela Lukudo) in turn in the Canary Islands, but in Las Palmas and the fifteenth-century student Vladimir Aceti in Valencia.

Jacobs’ competitive schedule is essentially confirmed. Marcell will make his debut in 2023 on February 4 with an international indoor meeting, presumably the Polish one in Lodz, to repeat again away from Italy about ten days later, before the Assoluti in Ancona on 18-19 and any other engagement on the eve or almost of the indoor European Championships in Istanbul on 2-5 March, with “his” 60 (three rounds) on the calendar on Saturday 4. The blue, in Turkey, will be called to confirm the title conquered two years ago in Torun, first four individual global golds.

Meanwhile, there is some news in the “team” that follows the bi-Olympic. Marcell has chosen not to be assisted by X-Hybrid, a London agency with an Italian soul: the entrepreneur Luca Oddo, the manager Luca Scolari and the communications officer Francesco Conticello have therefore left his staff. It is the family, mother Viviana in the lead, who manage some of the sprinter’s non-sporting activities at least at this time.
