At noon, the NFL announced the International Games for the coming season. In addition to the two Germany Games in Frankfurt, three London Games will also take place this year. This is an absolute novelty.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will be the first team in history to play two games in one season outside of the United States.
The Jags take on the Atlanta Falcons at the venerable Wembley Stadium in week four before taking on the Buffalo Bills at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium a week later.
It’s no surprise that it’s the Jacksonville Jaguars who have been chosen for this first. Jacksonville have played in London nine of the last ten seasons and have already formed a fan base there. The Jags are therefore sometimes referred to as the “London Team”
Trevor Lawrence is looking forward to England
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence is definitely looking forward to the two-week trip to the English capital:
“We’re looking forward to returning to the NFL’s international circuit and playing the Falcons and Bills in London. Hosting the Falcons at Wembley Stadium will be a great experience, followed by an away game against the Bills at Tottenham. I’m looking forward to it that experience and know the support will be great in both games,” said the Jags playmaker.
In addition to the two Jaguars games in weeks four and five, week six will also be played in London. The Tennessee Titans and the Baltimore Ravens then make the three NFL weeks in the English capital perfect.
In November, the National Football League will also look to Germany, where the Germany Games will take place on November 5th and a week later in Frankfurt. The Kansas City Chiefs host the Miami Dolphins on November 5, and the New England Patriots meet the Indianapolis Colts on November 12.
