The Jacksonville Jaguars are driving the upheaval a few days before the start of the new Liga Year of the NFL. With Tight End Evan Engram, another reliable offensive player has to leave the team.
This reports, among other things, “ESPN” on Thursday evening. Accordingly, the Jaguars Engram put the door in front of the door to save almost six million dollars of Cap Space.
The 30-year-old came to Jacksonville in 2022 and had proven himself there during a one-year contract. The Jaguars then equipped him with the franchise day and then with a long -term deal (three years, $ 41.25 million).
In the first year of his contract, Engram properly delivered, started 114 passes (second place in the NFL history under Tight Ends) for 963 yards and four touchdowns. In the previous season, meanwhile injuries thwarted him.
His last year of contract would have earned him a $ 14.75 million salary. Engram even counted at 19.75 against the cap and thus had the highest cap hit in the team.
NFL: Christian Kirk Weg too
For the time being, the last few days in Jacksonville are not a pleasant for quarterback Trevor Lawrence. He loses two of his most constant passport recipients. Because with Christian Kirk another offensive star leaves the Jaguars.
Kirk was originally supposed to be released to save Cap Space, but now he is traded to the Houston Texans.
Something under the radar, the Jaguars also released three other players. Receiver/Returner Devin Duvernay, Receiver Josh Reynolds and Cornerback Ronald Darby leave the team and free another seven million dollars.
So there is a lot in Jacksonville, where General Manager James Gladstone and Head Coach Liam Coen are two new heads at the top of the upheaval.
