Speed skater Erin Jackson thought at the beginning of January after a failed race at the American qualifying tournament that she could not go to the Beijing Games, until teammate Brittany Bowe gave up her starting spot. On Sunday, 29-year-old Jackson made history by becoming Olympic 500 meters champion.
