The final in the London Queen’s Club missed Jack Draper very close. In the meantime, he left his frustration on his racket.

Jack Draper had to take a bitter defeat in the semi-finals of the ATP tournament in the London Queen’s Queen’s Club. The Briton lost the crime thriller against the Czech Jiri Lehecka after three sentences 4: 6, 6: 4, 5: 7. During the game there was an inglorious scene.

What happened? Draper conceded the decisive break against Lehecka – and then no longer had a grip on that. The tennis star peppered his racket angry and with all his strength against a digital advertising gang, completely demolished it. The gang itself was also affected by Draper’s freak and then had image problems.

At Draper, an tonsillitis was diagnosed on Friday. “Today I probably feel more bad than ever,” he said after the game. “Did I think about a withdrawal? No, not at all. I am in the semi -finals of Queen’s. I would probably even go on the pitch with a broken leg. I would not have been withdrawn in the world for anything.” He said nothing about his freak.

Meanwhile, opponent Lehecka can look forward to moving into a finale of the ATP tour as a second Czech. He meets Carlos Alcaraz on Sunday afternoon. The Spaniard had his compatriot Roberto Bautista Agut (6: 4, 6: 4) in the semifinals. It was his 250th victory on the ATP tour – and after just 311. Only John Mcenroe (307) and Rafael Nadal (310) had succeeded in even faster.

After 2023, Alcaraz could secure his second title in the Queen’s Club in London. At that time he had beaten the Australian Alex de Minaur.
