Jacintha Weimar (25) from Best is a permanent fixture at Feyenoord. She recently made her debut in Orange, although that turned out to be a nightmare. The Brabant player continues to believe in himself and enjoys being on the field every day. “This is not who I am, I can do much better.”
As a young girl, Jacintha already dreamed of playing for the Dutch national team. She wore the orange shirt as a youth international, but she made her debut for the ‘big Orange’ last month in the Nations League. Due to injuries to the first two goalkeepers, national coach Andries Jonker chose Jacintha in the international match against Belgium.
It was a debut to quickly forget from a sporting point of view, because just before the end Jacintha made a mistake on a corner. She boxed the ball against an opponent and that made it 2-1 for Belgium. There was no further change in that position. “On a personal level, my debut was of course a dream come true. Representing your country is the highest achievable. You just don’t want the match to be decided by a mistake on my part.”
At 2.30 minutes we see the moment of the 2-1.

The dream became a nightmare. She was very disappointed, but in her immediate environment she was supported by people she trusts thoroughly. “I don’t even read anything online, but of course you can’t avoid people talking about you on social media. I am well guided to deal with this. By the way, that guidance is not only there now. I have been able to contact people throughout my career. justified in everything I experience.”
After her Dutch debut, Jacintha focused entirely on Feyenoord again. However, there is not much to cheer about, because the performance of the first team is disappointing. The club is last in the Women’s Eredivisie. “I see our team growing. We are working on a great project and I believe in it.”
“I want to be a champion.”
Jacintha has become an indispensable part of Feyenoord’s team. She is a permanent fixture and she remains hungry. “I want to become champion, preferably with Feyenoord. And goalkeeping in the Champions League is a goal. I have a lot of experience at that level, but on the bench.”
